After re-entering the community following over 15 years of incarceration, Patrick didn’t think he would be able to find or hold down employment. Fast forward to 6 months after his Working Fields' job placement at Lane Press, Patrick has climbed halfway up the ladder in the press room, has his driver’s license and a vehicle, and the tools and support to manage the challenges that arise in work and in life.

Last month our valued community referral partners, Andrew and Hannah Christiansen of King Street Laundry, were interviewed on Town Meeting TV. King Street Laundry is a community laundromat dedicated to a simple idea: to create community around the equal access to the dignity of clean clothes. In addition to a free laundry program for folks without housing, King Street Laundry collaborates with local organizations to offer literacy programs, job fair events, and winter clothing giveaways. To support their growing number of programs and events, they recently founded Vermont Community Wash & Learn Inc.
