Associate Testimonial

"I really didn't think I was going to be having this kind of success before I started. This is a program that doesn't just put you in the right direction. They help steer and guide you. And I think that was what kept me pushing forward is that even though I wanted to give up, no on else did." - Patrick, Former Working Fields Associate

After re-entering the community following over 15 years of incarceration, Patrick didn’t think he would be able to find or hold down employment. Fast forward to 6 months after his Working Fields' job placement at Lane Press, Patrick has climbed halfway up the ladder in the press room, has his driver’s license and a vehicle, and the tools and support to manage the challenges that arise in work and in life.

“I just appreciate the opportunity that I was given without judgement. It's kept me having a positive attitude because I was given this one chance.”

Do you know someone struggling to find and keep work? Someone who may have a background that’s making it hard for them to get hired? You can learn more about Working Fields and refer them to us here. We also invite you to connect with us on Facebook and Instagram to stay in-the-loop on more events, job opportunities, and educational resources.

Referral Partner Interview!

Last month our valued community referral partners, Andrew and Hannah Christiansen of King Street Laundry, were interviewed on Town Meeting TV. King Street Laundry is a community laundromat dedicated to a simple idea: to create community around the equal access to the dignity of clean clothes. In addition to a free laundry program for folks without housing, King Street Laundry collaborates with local organizations to offer literacy programs, job fair events, and winter clothing giveaways. To support their growing number of programs and events, they recently founded Vermont Community Wash & Learn Inc. To learn about how King Street Laundry came to be, where it's going, and the impact it’s having, give this interview a listen.
