I am a person in recovery, but also a person who had the opportunity for a second, third, even fourth chance. I have worked as a theatre teacher, a restaurant manager, a guest services representative, and now I have the opportunity to give back to my community that has given me all those chances, the recovery community. To support folks who want to be seen for who they are, not what a paper says. Working Fields opens so many doors for people and to be a part of a company the provides chances, support, encouragement and growth to people has brought a whole new meaning to my life. I love working with people, connecting, and seeing what drives them. Being able to work with the greater community as well, around understanding and compassion towards folks with substance use disorder, and other barriers to employment adds to the ripples of the growing movement to break down the stigma the holds so many people back. I have a new and improved sense of self, and outlook on life because of someone taking a chance on me. It was hard, but every step forward is worth it and I am so grateful to support people making those steps every day.
